It was another good night for the two teams matching up this weekend in DC. Bryce Haper - again - lead the Nats with a 3/4 night a his 7th HR of the season. If you want to know how incredible his start has been in the majors, check out this piece from Grantland. It's amazing to consider what he COULD do over a career...but, it's early. As the very wise Travis Bowen always says to me, "It's ______ (early month in the baseball season)." From Grantland:
Bryce Harper is 19 years old. He's been in the major leagues for six weeks. He's accomplished almost nothing. And yet he's proven almost everything. Sometimes the hype machine gets one right, and sometimes the hype machine is even a little understated. If you find him to be infuriating, we suggest you find a way to learn to live with him. It looks like he's going to be with us for a long, long time.
Meanwhile, the Yanks decided to win in dramatic fashion on Tues. night. New York scored 6 runs in the 8th inning to come back vs. the Braves, led by A-Rod's 23rd career grand slam. His slam in the 8th tied Yankees great Lou Gehrig for all-time on the grand slam list. Even though his numbers are down - again- it's good to know A-Rod can sometimes produce magic like this when the game's on the line. From the Times:
“It means a lot,” Rodriguez said. “It’s very special. This game is very, very difficult and if you’re not going to enjoy these great moments, then it’s not any fun. Lou Gehrig was not only one of the all-time greats, but he was one of ours, a Yankee.”
